Pharma General Ontology
Period: 2024–present
Role: Pistoia Alliance project contributor and facilitator.
The Pharma General Ontology initiative aims to support shared understanding and interoperability across pharmaceutical R&D through agreed core concepts, identifiers and reusable semantic resources.
The website positioning deliberately avoids presenting Innovation Horizons as a technical ontology-engineering provider. The value proposition is advisory and transformational: helping expert communities align scope, terminology, governance and adoption pathways so that technical assets can become usable shared infrastructure.
Focus areas
- Shared R&D concept alignment.
- Cross-company interoperability and identifier alignment.
- Governance and sustainability of pre-competitive reference resources.
- Connecting technical work to FAIR implementation and AI-ready data strategies.
Related capability
PGO is part of a broader pattern: enabling organizations to move from fragmented terminology and local practices toward shared frameworks that support reuse, collaboration and decision-making.
